Let’s cut to the chase: Buying things you don’t need means working more to pay for things you never wanted, and you are not that fucking stupid.
I am, though. I’m not sure of the last time I went into a shop and left with ONLY the thing I intended to buy.
Whether it’s sneaky psychologists wafting bread smells or just our evolutionary history of scarcity which hyper-stimulates me to harvest and store.. whatever it is, I end up picking up more shit that I’d ever intended.
Get this: 70% of purchase decisions are made in the shop. That’s a LOT. To be fair, some of that is probably “I don’t have a list, but I’ll browse and I know what I don’t have / think I might want”, but still you can see that the chances of buying crap you dont actually need are pretty high.
So make a shopping list, use it, and stick it to The Man, just like your Granny used to.
