Prisons are so full we’re releasing killers early, but fixing the failed drugs policy filling them is still unfuckingthinkable.

Since 2024, 38,042 prison releases have been brought forward because there is no room. Yet we still hand the drugs market to criminals, imprison 9,008 people for drug offences and leave dependency linked to nearly half of acquisitive crime. Replace prohibition with regulated markets and medical treatment: cannabis alone could raise up to £1 billion in tax and save nearly £300 million in justice costs, while prison is reserved for people who are actually dangerous.
